Biodiversity References (BIOREF) is a portal to more than 300 biodiversity information resources. It has been designed to assist planners, surveyors and scientists working on biodiversity issues in New Zealand. For easy access BIOREF has its own domain name: www.bioref.org.nz BIOREF is brought to you by the Terrestrial Freshwater Biodiversity Information System (TFBIS) Programme, a programme of the New Zealand Biodiversity Strategy. In 2001 and 2002 the TFBIS Programme conducted a series of workshops with New Zealand scientists and science information managers to identify information issues affecting terrestrial and freshwater biodiversity management contributors in New Zealand. These meetings widely endorsed a portal as a practical and effective way of improving awareness of and access to fundamental biodiversity information resources. This part of the site was formerly known as Information Resources. The BIOREF title was established in August 2004 in response to comments from users. We welcome your feedback and suggestions for improvements. This resource is updated regularly. Last revised 26/10/2005 |
