boundaries and place names. The key classifications are listed below:
ADMINISTRATIVE BOUNDARIES
Relevant administrative boundaries include:
Core Record System (Landonline)
Landonline is provided by Terralink and defines the official boundaries
and titles of parcels of land in New Zealand, as well as ownership details.
Department of Conservation boundaries
Information on Department of Conservation regional, conservancy and area
office boundaries provided by the Department of Conservation (DOC). Conservancy
and area office boundaries are also available on the spatial information
map service DOCgis.
Marine boundary information showing closed areas and marine
interests administered by DOC is also available.
Māori
Land Information Base
The Māori Land Information Base is used to locate individual Maori land
blocks on a computer-generated map. It contains Māori Land Court
information about Māori freehold land. This information is overlaid
on a digital cadastral database and includes:
- the size of each Māori land block;
- an indication of the number of owners;
- topographical information such as road and rivers; and
- relevant and appropriate management information, for example, whether
the land is managed by an incorporation or trust.
Regional, district and city council boundaries
Information on regional, district and city council boundaries provided
by Local Government New Zealand.
PLACE NAMES
New Zealand Geographic Place Names Database
A database of all official place names in New Zealand provided by Land
Information New Zealand (LINZ).
