Voluntary agreements, or Accords, between major stakeholders have been used
to promote environmental and biodiversity protection in New Zealand.
Dairying
and Clean Streams Accord 2003
The Dairying and Clean Stream Accord was signed between the government,
Fonterra and Local
Government New Zealand on 26 May 2003. Further information about the

for the Environment.
National
Pest Plant Accord 2003
The National Pest Plant Accord was signed between regional councils and
government departments with biosecurity responsibilities in August 2001.
Under the accord, regional councils agree to undertake surveillance to
prevent the commercial sale and/or distribution of an agreed list of pest
plants.
