Next Funding Round

It is anticipated that the next funding round will open early 2013. If you wish be kept informed of future funding rounds please contact the Funds Team at biofunds@doc.govt.nz.

Biodiversity Values

When applying to the Condition Fund it is essential that you provide information on the indigenous biodiversity values of the area or habitat you are proposing to protect or enhance (criteria 1 in the Guide). If you do not have this information, seek advice from your local DOC office or Biodiversity Officer with your Council.

Projects that meet the National Priorities for Protecting Rare and Threatened Native Biodiversity on Private Land will be given priority.

Land Protection

The allocation of funds gives preference toward lands that currently have an enduring form of legal protection. Where sizable amounts of funding are involved for projects on areas not already protected through either a covenant, Land Management Agreement or some other form of suitable land protection agreement, funding will be conditional on an agreement being entered into.  The form of protection is negotiated after notification of approval and is done in order to protect the improvements made to the indigenous biodiversity through the granting of public funds.

Announcements

You will receive an automatic email confirmation that your application has been submitted. The announcement of the approval and decline of applications is anticipated to be in August. All applicants will be individually informed of the outcome of their application at this time.

Multi Projects

You can apply for more than one project as part of a 'multi project application'. Potential applicants for a 'multi project application' may include local authorities, non-government and semi-governmental organisations, iwi, hapu, or primary production and industry groups. Online electronic applications would be preferred for such multi project applications.

Deed of Grant

All grant recipients are required to sign a Deed (PDF) which sets out the obligations of each party in relation to the expenditure of monies on the project and the completion of the project.

Reporting Requirements

Part of the responsibility of accepting the Grant is to fulfil the reporting requirements. The report template (Word) (PDF) will assist you with this. Projects also require financial reporting and a financial template (XLS) (PDF) is provided to help you.

Please note that if you are already a grant recipient your previous project(s) must be up to date in terms of the reporting requirements before a new application will be considered. If your project has been delayed it is still possible to submit a new application, however, you will be required to have updated the Fund on any delays prior to submitting your new application.
